United States Paralympic Archer and Gold Medalist Matt Stutzman, along with TEAM USA Paralympic Head Archery Coach Jonathan Clemins, will be the featured speakers at the Library's "Aiming for Success" program on Thursday, October 16, 2025, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
This interesting program will begin with a brief outdoor demonstration of Mr. Stutzman's archery abilities (weather permitting, to be held in the lot directly across from the main library at 7 Spruce Street, Gallipolis).
Following this brief demonstration, attendees will join Mr. Stutzman and Coach Clemins in the Library's Riverside Room to hear their unique stories of the Paralympic Games, resiliency, and working hard to overcome the odds to reach one's goals.
This event is free and open to all.
Stutzman, who was born without arms, uses his legs and feet to perform many activities, including archery and drag racing. Just over one year ago in Paris, France, Stutzman became a gold medalist at the Paralympic Games after defeating his competitor in a shoot-off. Stutzman, who also won a silver medal at the London 2012 Paralympics, competed in the 2016 and 2020 Paralympic Games and is a Para Archery World Champion.
Clemins, who in addition to serving nationally as the Team USA Paralympic Archery head coach, is also the head coach of the archery program at the University of Rio Grande. Clemins is a native of rural Appalachia and had a previous career in law enforcement. He led Stutzman and Team USA in Paris 2024 where the archery team won two Paralympic gold medals, including Stutzman's gold medal-winning effort.

The Library will also provide middle school and high school students in both the Gallipolis City and the Gallia County Local school districts with the opportunity to hear the presentation of these two speakers on October 13th and 14th.
